I have a 6300 with a analog tachometer that will not work. I have checked the wiring from the sensor to the instrument panel plug and replaced the tach sensor. Got good continuity from the sensor to the instrument panel plug. I installed my instrument panel in my friends 6300 and the tach worked.My 20 yr old JD 7700 has the rectangular LCD portion of the dash's backlight either burnt out or a bad ground. The LCD portion is actually illuminated anytime the tractor is running, normally. All the individual pto, transmisssion pres.,voltage, etc lights light up on start up. The FWD light does not light up during that test sequence.Looks like either the dash panel module or the fuel sensor or the temp sensor. Being it is both senders, I'd suspect the dash panel module. There is a test procedure to isolate these three possibilities in the tech manual. I gather the s/n is under the 70000 when some changes were made to the 425. The operator manual has a wiring diagram, but like a lot of automotive diagrams, the instrument cluster is shown as a box with a few wires attached. No details of the internal wiring to the gauges. Do the dial gauges work (tach, fuel gauge, temp gauge)? On my 5525 the oil pressure and battery displays are just idiot lights, not dial gauges.

Sounds ike you have a fuse in diagnostic position in fuse panel. This fuse needs to be removed for normal operation. Not sure if you have open station straddle mount, flat platform or cab, but look for fuse marked "diag". Dave C.
