Lots of breeze there to keep bugs off, but still a lot of mosquitoes and no-see ums. We took a spray this year called Sawyers Insect Repellant with 20% picaridin and had fewer bites. If the roads are dry, all the North Shore beaches can be accessed with a non-4WD. You'll just be limited in being able to use some of the side of the road parking where the drop offs can be significant. The things we love about St John-Gallows Point being right on the water with a sunset view and walk to town. National Park and hiking. The Beaches and snorkeling. Mountains and views.
